Nutrition Council

Helping to ensure that children are
making healthy food and activity choices
is part of our holistic approach to children’s
well-being at The Children’s Home.

Good nutrition plays a big part of a child’s physical, mental and emotional well-being.

As part of our holistic approach to children’s well-being at The Children’s Home, The Nutrition Council has become an important part of our organization.

Children and their families have many needs, and healthy eating often does not rise to the top of the list. With established ties between nutrition, attention spans and cognitive development, ensuring that children and their families make healthier food and lifestyle choices is a much-needed service, particularly for children at risk.

The Nutrition Council provides scientifically sound nutrition information, practical tips, and recipes to help consumers put nutrition science into action.

The Children's Home of Cincinnati has participated in the Community Eligibility Provision program for the past four years. This has allowed our program to offer free meals to all students enrolled here. We offer breakfast, lunch and summer meals to all students enrolled in our programs daily. As of today, 8/22/2018, the Children's Home of Cincinnati is no longer eligible for CEP Status. However, we are requesting a waiver from the Ohio Department of Education to allow for a one year extension of program eligibility in order to remain a Community Eligibility Provision school for the school year, 2018-19.
