Child Care Programs

Summer Camp
Q:  Is transportation provided?
A:  A parent or guardian must provide transportation to and from summer
     camp. Transportation is provided for all field trips.

Q: What is the cost for summer camp?
A:  The cost for summer camp is $154 per week (for a ten-week period); however,
      Child care vouchers are accepted as payment for families receiving them through the
      Ohio Department of Job & Family Services.

Preschool
Q:  Who is eligible for The Children's Home Preschool services?
A:  Families with children between the ages of 3 and 5 years with a parent who works at
      least 1 hour per week and meets income requirements are eligible for The Children's Home Preschool program. The Ohio Department of Job & Family Services determines eligibility.

Q:  What method of payment is accepted?
A:  Child care vouchers issued through the Ohio Department of Job & Family are
       accepted as payment.

Q:  Does my child have to be toilet trained to enroll in The Children's Home Preschool?
A:  Yes, children must be toilet trained upon enrollment in the preschool.

Q:  What is The Children's Home Preschool’s teacher to child ratio?
A:  Our classroom ratio is 1 teacher to 9 children. We currently have two classrooms
      and can accept 36 students.

After-School
Q:  Where are After-School services provided?
A:  After-school services are currently provided at Midway Elementary in Westwood and at John P. Parker Elementary in Madisonville.

Q:  Will the program be open during holidays or on other days when school is closed?
A:  No; the program will not be open on any day school is closed.

Q:  What method of payment is accepted?
A:  We accept private payments and child care vouchers issued through the
      Ohio Department of Job & Family Services.

Family Support

Q:  Who is eligible for Every Child Succeeds?
A:  Eligibility requirements:
      • First-time mother/parents
      • Resident of Brown, Butler, Clermont or Hamilton Counties in Ohio; resident of Boone, Campbell, or Kenton Counties in Kentucky
      • Pregnant women or women with a baby under the age of 3 months at enrollment
      • Must meet at least 1 of the following criteria:
            Single mother
            Low income
            Received late or no prenatal care
            Under 18 years of age

Q:  How do I enroll in Home Visitation programs?

Adoption & Kinship
Q:  Does The Children’s Home facilitate adoptions?
A:  No. The Children’s Home does not place children in adoptive homes, nor do we hold
     custody of children eligible for adoption. These services are typically provided through
     county social service agencies. We do offer record checks for children who were adopted through our agency in the past.
     
Special Education
Q:  How do children enroll in the therapeutic school program?
A:  Students are referred through their home school district personnel.

Q:  Who pays for students in the therapeutic school program?
A:  A student’s home school district covers the cost of tuition and provides
      transportation to and from school.

Mental Health
Q:  How do I arrange for my child to receive Mental Health services?
A:  Email us to facilitate a referral.

Q:  Can my child receive Mental Health services at home or at school?
A:  Yes. Mental Health services are available in a variety of settings, including
       home, school and community settings.

Q:  How do I know if Mental Health services are appropriate for my child?
A:  A comprehensive assessment will help to determine the need for mental health
      services. Email us for more information about assessments.

Q:  Can my child receive medication through The Children’s Home?
A:  Children already receiving Mental Health services may also receive medication
      services through a physician at our location. Written prescriptions may be picked
      up and filled at the pharmacy of your choice.
