Young children ranging from ages 2-8 with emotional and behavioral difficulties need extra support to overcome barriers to their healthy growth and development. Our array of mental health interventions and treatments prepare the youngest of children for early success.
Early Childhood Mental Health: A Continuum of Early Support and Intervention
Our Early Childhood Mental Health programs provide a continuum of services for young children experiencing social, emotional, and/or behavioral difficulties, from counseling to intensive day treatment. Our licensed, professional staff is experienced in both early childhood development and mental health, allowing for a unique blend of expertise to guide young children towards healthy social and emotional development. Services include:
Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation
Early Childhood Mental Health Consultants provide services to full and half- day preschool programs, assisting staff and parents in supporting the needs of young children with social, behavioral, and learning challenges. Consultants conduct observations of individual children and classrooms, with follow-up consultation for teachers and parents as needed. Trainings are available for both teachers and parents upon request.
Young children with social, behavioral and learning challenges need special guidance and attention to experience healthy growth and development. Our Promoting Resilient Children (PRC) program provides consultation, coaching and training to early childhood center administrators and staff to ensure their ability to meet the needs of pre-kindergarten children.
Early Childhood Outpatient Counseling
Individual and family counseling services address the needs of families whose young children experience moderate social, emotional, and/or behavioral difficulties. Outpatient counseling services promote the healthy functioning of children and their families in multiple areas. Play and family therapy and attachment work are among the models used.
Early Childhood Community Support
Early Childhood Community Support offers an array of flexible, community-based supports for young children with significant emotional and behavioral difficulties. Services are designed to work in home, school, and neighborhood settings, but can also be applied in a more therapeutic setting as necessary. This service is appropriate for children and families in need of a more intensive intervention than outpatient counseling.
Early Childhood Day Treatment (ECDT)
The most intensive of our mental health programs for young children, ECDT provides a structured, therapeutic environment where children work on building attachments, modifying behaviors, and improving overall functioning to reach their individualized goals. This 3.5-hour program also aids children in building positive relationships and maintaining progress outside of the therapeutic environment.
