Wednesday, July 19, 2017
The Children’s Home of Cincinnati is pleased to announce its recent hire of Melissa (Missy) Hendon Deters, who will join The Children’s Home team in the newly created position of Director of Leadership Giving. In this role, Missy will work as a member of The Children’s Home’s Advancement team where she will be responsible for the cultivation of major gifts and planned giving.
“We are thrilled to have Missy join our team in this new role. As our agency continues to expand and our advancement efforts evolve, I am confident Missy’s vast network and ability to develop relationships will contribute to our long-term strategy for success,” said Vice President of Advancement, Roderick Hinton.
Missy brings more than 25 years of professional and fundraising experience to her new position. The Public Library of Cincinnati & Hamilton County Foundation hired Missy as its Executive Director whereby she handled all administrative and fundraising duties including the Annual Fund and Endowment. She previously served on the Library Foundation Board and was actively involved in the fundraising and event planning for the Library’s successful levy campaigns. Missy was chosen by the Ohio Board of Education to be a member of the State Library Board, which oversees the State Library of Ohio and library services throughout the state.
“The most rewarding part of my job is working with donors who want to make a difference in the lives of others,” said Missy. “I’m very excited about this opportunity to advance the vital services the Children’s Home provides to so many kids.”
“I’m delighted to welcome Missy to the Advancement team at The Children’s Home. Her experience leading fundraising and development efforts makes her an ideal fit for the important works we are doing for children across the Greater Cincinnati area. I’m confident her many talents and passionate embrace of The Children’s Home of Cincinnati’s mission will produce great success for us,” said Larry Glassmann, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for The Children’s Home of Cincinnati.
In addition to her successful fundraising experience, Missy has extensive experience managing and administering a successful non-profit organization. Missy combines her professional experience in fundraising and events with an extensive volunteer background at organizations including Ronald McDonald House, Ursuline Academy, and St. Xavier High School.
